Happy Thanksgiving!

Preveiw map thumb

I wish you all a Happy thanksgiving, and in case you are planning some Greyhawk gaming or want to use some of the time off to study the Flanaess here is the latest Preview PDF.

This time Irongate has gotten a major overhaul and lots of small changes here and there elsewhere as well. The Legend and Credits section are beginning to take shape so its starting to look like a World of Greyhawk wall map!

Thanks again for all your support!

Greyhawk maps in Realm Works…..

RW screen

Since I got my first computer I have dreamt of having a tool that was designed to manage a role Playing campaign world, and now after a long wait I have it!

It is Realm Works from Lone Wolf Development  famous for their excellent character management tool Hero Lab. I participated in their successful Kickstarter campaign and as a reward I been able to use a beta version of Realm Works for a while. It is a very impressive tool with much to offer any Game Master, and one of my aims are to adapt my Flanaess map for use with Realm Works. This blog post is just a way to tell you that work has now started in earnest and when Realm Works will be available and the content repository will be available there will be a version of my maps adapted for Realm Works coming.

Online map is up and running again!

The update went well and now a newer version of the online map is up and running again!

The next update will hopefully be a HTML5 version with a fully featured legend.

Online map update!

time to update the online map again, so it will unfortunately be off line for until around Thursday lunch (PST time that is).
I’ve corrected errors that have been spotted by all you keen-eyed hawkers out there, and a long list of correction notes I have myself. More than one hundred changes including some new heraldry and a few places that had eluded me until now. Next up is to add the legend and switch to HTML5 in a week or two.

Preparing for what is to come….

Today I’m deleting a lot of old stuff on on my web server. The things that have to go are the old area maps, the first big maps from a couple of years ago and lots of old files from previous versions of my website.

All the storage space I have will be needed for the new things to come. First will be a need full map PDF preview with a lot of corrections and a few updates, then the online map will receive the same updates.  A move to HTML5 online map is next, and then its time to unveil the first map to be ready to hang on a wall.

The first release quality map will be a special treat to remember the very first Greyhawk map by Darlene. It will be “homage” with my terrain and the features as on original map and the best of all it will have titles made by Darlene herself. The size will be 48×35 inches, more details will come soon.

Online map is up again!

The new version it up!
It includes Hepmonaland and should hopefully work a little bit faster so please check it out and report any issues to me.

The second test version ready to use, you can test it at: http://ghmaps.net/onlinemap/onlinemap.html

Style and Quality sample

Logo layer test1

Here is a first look at a style and quality sample. This is the resolution and level of detail that the final map will have. I’m playing and tweaking with styles and detail but this I think shows what I’m aiming for.

The online map update is underway but are still many hours to go, more on that tomorrow.

Online map down for update!

I’m updating the online map so it will be out of order for the next 24 hours or so. I’m not sure how it will take exactly it depends on how fast I can upload the files to my web server. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

Updated Full Map preview!

Finally its time for me to present a full map preview that contains the whole map!

You get the map here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/296601/Flanaess%20Full%20map131027.pdf
Its is a 245MB PDF map with layers. I’m tweaking the compression so try and keep the file size manageable while keeping the terrain at least somewhat usable. The terrain and cloud effects are reduced to 75dpi in this map so they don’t look great. The original are 600DPI so the final map should look good both in print and on screens.

The purpose of this map is not to show off quality, it is a way to try and weed out as many errors as possible. So if you see anything wrong please comment or send me a message through the contact page. With your help it can be a better map, and again thank you all who have helped me make this project along during all these years.

The Onlinemap map will go off-line tomorrow as I’m updating its content. It is still very much in a test phase so there will be disruptions quite often until the final version can come online hopefully around the holidays. The last upload took me over a day so if all goes well it should be back up again Friday.

I have started work on the layout, borders and legend of the final map. Screenshots and tidbits will be presented here soon to give some sneak peaks into the final look of things.

A first look at Hepmonaland

Here is a first preview map of the last remaining part of my Flanaess map, Hepmonaland!
The map is in PDF format and is 20MB in size.
