Working on the full map.
Here comes a status report on my work on converting all my area maps into one map in Illustrator. So far I’ve done about one third area wise in a bout two days of work. It took me several more days to work out styles symbols text styles and lots of other pre-conversion tasks that had to be done before the actual work of remaking the maps using Illustrator. Now I have found what I can import from CorelDraw and what needs to be made from scratch again, so now the work is progressing nicely.
I’ve changed a bit of the look of things as well, both symbols and the graphic style of text and borders and roads. My ambition has been to try and make some text less intrusive, like names of small areas a Barony inside a Kingdom for instance. You have to zoom in a lot to see that as well as the small swamp that are found inside it. Most of this are set using global styles so I can tweak it afterwards across the whole map without too much hassle.
But the look of the map when it comes to fonts, symbols and elements are getting close to what I want tin the final product. There are a few more tweaks I want to do but nothing major, so now there are about a week of hard labor at the desk and a map covering the whole of the Flaness in close detail are a lot closer to being a reality!

Hi Anna,
The map is looking good! You sure have put a lot of work into it……….are you planning to sell the full map in its entirety?
Another question, hope you don’t mind, you say that you run a campaign after the “Greyhawk Wars,” in your opinion, what modules have been made redundant by this?
All the best
Paul

One way or the other it will be released once I’m done with it. I will look into printed wall maps, a printed Atlas and an online version. What I’m doing now is bringing the graphics up to a level standard that I can use parts of various size from a lot easier. It will also look a bit better too
When it comes to the old source books they still contain a treasure trove of information still valid. But old adventures I’m more skeptical towards, I know its me and my hang ups. But I read them and use some of them as inspiration, but the only adventure I’ve run as is are the village of Hommlet. The rest don’t fit my way of running a campaign I think. Most of the time I read all of it, and then use the background and overall description as the basis for my version.
The reason I like the time after the LG campaign is that it has more source material to use as a base and to set the story in. More room for political intrigue and power-figures to use.

Hi Anna,
I just discovered your maps, and I wanted to let you know that I think the maps you have created are awesome!!! As an avid DM using Greyhawk through the years, I just wanted to let you know how beautiful I think your maps are (I just downloaded the ones for North Kingdom, where my current campaign is taking place). I can only imagine how hard they are to create, and the time involved in doing it. As such, I just wanted to let you know that I truly appreciate your creations.
Sincerely,
Joey

Thanks a lot Joey, I’m so glad you like my maps!
You’re right about the hard work. I’ve been working for years to come this far, and research are what takes the most time at least until now. Right now I’m in the middle of bringing all my work together into one Illustrator document making it possible to make anything from wall maps to an Atlas with it.

Anna,
First, I’d like to thank you for these maps! They depict details I couldn’t find anywhere else. I’m planning to run a campaign in the Sunndi region for the first time; since I wasn’t around when LG ran(partly because my English was terrible back then) and with Sunndi’s website down, frankly I have no idea what I’m doing^^’ I was just about to give up on the idea when I stumbled into your blog.
And secondly… There is a part of the lore that has left me the more confused the more I sources found about it. You are obviously more privy than I am, so I felt you are a good person to ask. What do you know about the Glorioles dwarves? The party is (hopefully, if they don’t wander away too far) going to get involved in a border incident between Brennathar and them, and I want to be clear how the two stand. Sunndi being feudal, the two could wage war without the king intervening if they are independent vassals under the Olvenking, but if not, the conflict could grow into a nationwide war. One source(the Gazetter) says they are independent, but makes no mention of their government. Your maps depict the mountains as part of Pitchfield county. Other maps suggest they are part of the country, but independent within the kingdom. An article from the Wizards and various wikis describe their government in detail, calling their kingdom Glorvardum, which supposedly existed for millenia, only allied with the southern neighbours.
So what’s going on here? Did Glorvardum merge with Sunndi at one point? Were they part of it originally but left later? Or did the Thane swear fealty/broken his oath to the Olvenking?

PS.: Reading my own comment, I came to realize my English is not a lot better NOW either-.- Sorry about that. Should not spend so much time on forums with an edit post feature…

Thank you Dozen, for your interest!
I’ve done some looking into the Dwur realm of Glorvardum and you’re right they are a separate state. Despite how much I going through the sources, knowledgeable Greyhawk fans like you finds things to add or correct. I’m so glad you told me. Will have a updated a version of the Glorioles ready soon.
Thanks again for your help, and your English are better than mine!
